2022 Cabernet Sauvignon, Taddei Block, Rutherford, Napa Valley

The TADDEI Block Rutherford Bench Cabernet has become a stable for my winemaking. We do not get a lot of fruit as the vineyard is approximately an acre, and we farm the fruit at approximately two tons an acre. I don’t heavy hand this wine because I love the sense of place that the vineyard provides. I can drink this wine every day without getting bored, the profile of the Rutherford dirt and purity of the wine is extraordinary. 2022 falls in line with the other vintages, with one exception, it is more concentrated and richer than the previous vintages, despite my efforts to keep it simple. The 2022 has a power to it that is unmistakable, with rich deep flavors of dark cherry, plum, and gobs of leather and concentrated minerality while retaining the soft tannin profile it has always embraced. The nose is less floral and more meaty in characteristic followed by dark stone fruits. The wines finish is very smooth with hints of leather, espresso and dark fruit.
